Do you have a favorite editor? Maybe you're like me and didn't realize you did, until one day you're reading the acknowledgment page of one of your favorite reads, and you realized you've seen the editor's name before. In fact, you look through seven books on your shelf, and they all have the same editor.
Fantastic.
For me, this editor was Anne Sowards, senior editor at Roc and Ace (an imprint of Penguin). A sci-fi and fantasy editor, she's responsible for some super awesome novels and authors that I love (Tate Hallaway, Anne Bishop and Karen Chance to give you a taste).
I've heard that some readers follow editor's books like they would a regular author. I don't do that (yet), but I can see the appeal. Especially because you'd never have to wait long for the author's next book to come out--an editor is always publishing something. Definitely sounds nice if you're impatient like me for a good book.
So what about you? Do you follow a favorite editor, or do you even have one? Take a look at your shelves, I bet you do.

But first, a programming note. Posts will be a bit sporadic in the next few

I've never even thought of doing this! Hmmmm... off to check the acknowledgment pages of my favorite books...
Seriously do. Let me know what you find out!
Whaa? Now I have to pick a favorite editor too?
Oh why must you do this to me, Steph? :)
/ridiculousness
I never thought about it, but I would say the editor of The Underneath by Kathi Appelt. Fabulous! ;-)
That's so interesting! No, I don't follow editors, but maybe I SHOULD be taking a closer look at that.
I do happen to notice tastes that literary agents have and follow some of what they represent because I KNOW I'll like their book.
Hmmm... Now I need to check out my shelves. I've never given any thought to that although I have been looking for agent trends in my library.
I have no clue. I don't really know any besides the few I've run into here on the blogging world.
I used to have favorite editors, but lately I've been going agent-ga-ga lol. My first favorite editor was Kate Duffy, may she rest in peace. I will have to go back to editor stalking after the holidays :)
Sorry Matt... oh wait, no I'm not. Hehehe. Yes, you must pick a favorite editor!
Shannon - haven't read it, but I'll check it out. Thanks.
See guys, and here I've never followed an agent's client list before. I have no idea why not, it makes perfect sense. Looks like I have lots to read! Oy.
I've never really thought of this either. I'm just focused on favorite agents at this point. I'll let you know about my favorite editors after I snag an agent and can concentrate on the next step. Ha - as if! :-)
Oh Laura, you're too funny. You'll snag an agent. We all will if we keep at this long enough. (I'm pretty sure that's the secret.)
