Just like Keira Diaz, my protagonist in BEAUTY SECRETS, I obsess over things all the time. I use the word things, because there really isn't any rhyme or reason to my obsessions.
Take this week for example. My Mom and I have spent every spare moment finishing a quilt for moi. Why do I need a quilt? Well, because they're cool. And I like 'em. So, we finally finished the quilt last night at 9 p.m. and where was I this afternoon? At Joann's buying more material to make another one. Why? Because the first one was so much fun silly.
So now instead of blogging, reading or writing, I am spending my time quilting - and watching Mad Men because apparently I'm obsessed with that show too (and you can't forget NCIS).
Of course, it's not like I have any free time. I really need to be grading right now and editing. I was on a roll writing daily the last 8 months (seriously, it's been eight months, wow!) and right now I feel like being creative in some other way. I'm still writing though too. Just last night I was making mental notes for more things to add to BEAUTY SECRETS. It's just I'd rather be quilting.
So, what about you? What are YOUR other creative endeavors?

This week! Books!
But first, a programming note. Posts will be a bit sporadic in the next few
weeks as I am headed to San Diego for the wonderment known ...

When I'm not writing, I'm singing karaoke, attempting to play the guitar, or trying to improve my photographic skills. Wish I were good at arts and crafts, like candle-making or quilting, but I've only dabbled in such things. Some day, when the Time Fairy gives me more, um, time, I shall pursue such things in earnest!
Good luck with the quilt and the writing and the grading and so on!
Thanks Laura. I started cutting out a baby quilt last night and can't wait to start piecing it together. It's an excellent creative endeavor when your brain needs a writing break.
A baby quilt?! Do you have news?
Oh no, not me. A couple of my close friends have recently had babies and I thought the quilts would make nice Christmas presents.
I'm also going to try and sell a couple quilts at local holiday bazaars - we'll see!
Eight months - wow. Impressive.
I once crocheted so much I injured myself. For days and weeks on end I worked on blanket after blanket.
A crocheting injury!!
I sing, cook, shop, and blog silly... Some afternoons I find myself cooking up a storm, or diving head first into my kids school projects. Thanks for reminding me I have a quilt to make for my friend who's having a baby next month... Thanks, Steph!
I 'just' write, wish I could sing (enjoy that my little girls stillthinks I have a nice voice hahaha), wish I could play an instrument. Come to think of it, my other creative endeavour is to spend an awful lot of time daydreaming.
A crochet injury? Wow Jenna, talk about impressive. I crochet too, so I know how it goes - "I'll take a break after I finish this row. Wait, I meant this row. Okay, after THIS row." HA.
