Back to Basics

Sometimes I think you need to take a step backwards before you can move forward, especially when it comes to writing. (Heck, isn't that the definition of editing?) Which is why the last couple weeks I've taken a step back and allowed a healthy distance to grow between me and my work; time to chillax and reflect.

But today? Today I'm focusing on getting back to the basics of my writing. I love words; the way they sound, their rhythm. Writing is just cool.

So cheers to all you writers out there for being cool and keepin' it real. It's time to go to work.

And this is why I could never stop writing. The song of words is too alluring for me to step away for too long.

Even if it does mean re-reading the same passage fifty-gajillion times to get the phrasing right.

Totally agree. I sometime get caught up in a whole lot of 'stuff' that it affects my writing.

Hope your time out helps you get back into the swing of things

Matt - I knew I couldn't be the only one who loves the song words sing. And you're right, it can be maddening to get the phrasing just right.

Thanks Chris - I hope your writing's back on track too. I saw you were busy yourself last month. Doesn't the fall always seem like such a crazy time?

Very true, but sometimes I forget what the basics are, too ;).
