Have No Fear - I Haven't Disappeared!

Phew! What a busy couple of weeks it has been. With the semester officially well underway, I feel that I can FINALLY get back to my writing, which I plan on diving back into on Wednesday.

So what about you? Do you ever HAVE to take a break from your writing--family life's calling, you're busy with school, remodeling your house, or like me, all of the above? Or do you ever just WANT to take a break--walk away for awhile and take a vacation?

I guess I have a tendency to do both. And honestly, sometimes it can be hard to jump back in. Must. Find. Motivation.

So again, what about you? Do you have to take a break? Want to take a break? Need a little motivation? Or maybe you're so motivated you need a chill pill?

I'd love to hear about it. Please share!

Sounds like you need a break. When I'm in the midst of writing a story, I have a compulsive need to finish it, and once I'm done, I feel like a great weight's been lifted (and my wife would attest to the fact that I'm also easier to get along with during these non-writing intervals :)

Right now, I'm working on a book proposal for a travel guide, and while I'm nervous about snagging this gig, I'm grateful for the break from my fiction. I normally love working on my novel and used to hate breaks, but these days, I'm so overwhelmed by the revision process (and the four detailed critiques that I've received) that a break seemed more than necessary. It was imperative - otherwise, I might've been on the verge of giving up.

Bane - I'm like you; being obsessive compulsive about finishing a MS can be a good thing!

Laura - I'm glad you've got another writing project to keep you occupied. I can definitely understand the revision process. I'm in the same boat right now. Only my MS is 66k!

I'm leaving tomorrow for a trip to Denver to see family. I'm excited to see them, but dreading being away from my writing... I'm on a roll having written close to 34K in just over two weeks.

Debra - 34k in two weeks? That's awesome! I wouldn't want to take a break either. Hopefully your vaca won't slow you down one bit.

I understand Steph! Life has been crazy... I've been booking an author visit from another part of the state to seven different schools in my area, writing a grant for the library, and trying to be "super mom". We're going on vacation for a week next week and I can't wait!
