I Love It!

Okay, so you know when you've read your MS over and over and over again, and you feel like you're not getting anywhere and you wonder why and heck you even bother?
Well, that was me the last couple weeks. But then, I opened BEAUTY SECRETS and started reading and it all came back to me. I wrote a damn good story. It's clever, and witty, and funny, and my grandmother likes it. My grandmother I tell you! She said that it was a quick, fun mystery read. The kind that she'll spend an entire day reading just so she can find out who did it. How awesome is that.

That's all I wanted -- a fun cozy mystery. And I got it. So now I'll keep that in mind as I edit (again) and prepare to send out query letters (again). Because I have a damn good story and some agent and publisher and reader out there is going to love it. Who-hoo!

Good for you! It's so easy to doubt ourselves and our talents and our commitments and our purpose. Writing a fun mystery is a great achievement. I think I've done that very thing myself! Hang in there, send it out into the universe, and trust in yourself and your grandmother. ;-)

Thanks Debra for the kind words. I can't wait to hear about all your future success too. I have a feeling your moment is about to come.

That's an awesome feeling. I'm in the throes of hatred currently... b/c I'm way too close to things. It helps to go and read older stuff I've written to know that my writing's not total bollocks.

Hurray! It can be pretty nifty to read what you wrote and think, "Holy cow! This is really, really good!"

I hope you find an agent and an editor soon- good luck!

And as we all know, grandmothers know what they're talking about.

So hooray for them.

Bane - it definitely helps to back away for a minute or two and to read! Not just your stuff, but other writer's stuff too. Perspective is always a good thing.

Thanks Stephanie. I can say wholeheartedly that BEAUTY SECRETS isn't ready yet. I'm only on page 17 with my fresh perspective and I've added so much. Well, not in length --a sentence here and there--but it's the meaning that's become greatly enhanced.

Matt - Grandma's are awesome. When I'm eighty, I want to be just like my grandma. The woman is so busy, she's never home! I'm lucky she had the time to read my novel. =)
